Chapter 464 - Capítulo 464: 464: Rival's Tactics
Capítulo 464: Chapter 464: Rival’s Tactics
Tang Chuxia couldn’t help but laugh and cry.
What she thought was a significant issue didn’t seem to be much trouble for Licorice to resolve.
Perhaps Dangdang would figure it out very soon.
“So, what do you think about dating? You really have no feelings for Qin Zhan?” Pushing aside the issue of Dangdang, Tang Chuxia was more concerned about Licorice’s love life.
Licorice was no longer the nervous and cautious girl who had first come to the Tang Family. She was quite open when talking with Tang Chuxia.
“Brother Qin is great, but I don’t feel worthy of him right now. Once I finish my studies at the night school and improve myself, at least not being illiterate, I’ll pursue him!”
Licorice’s words made Tang Chuxia see her in a new light.
Everyone can change, as long as they have a goal, they’ll eventually become what they want to be.
Tang Chuxia patted Licorice’s shoulder, “Good for you, I support you!”
Licorice blushed slightly, returning to her shy self.
Declaring her intention to pursue Qin Zhan might have been the boldest thing she had ever said in her life.
Luckily, at that moment, Father Tang appeared from the inside room.
“Is everything taken care of?”
Tang Chuxia was speechless, “Dad, it’s not that difficult to deal with that person, why are you so afraid?”
Father Tang said, “Don’t be ridiculous, I’m not afraid at all. It’s just that I find it bothersome. By the way, where’s your mom?”
Tang Chuxia didn’t want to answer. Why was it that in this house, everybody was always looking for their mom, as if everyone could only turn to Madam Tang?
“I don’t know, what’s up with you lately? Why are you clinging to Mom so much?”
Father Tang coughed lightly, “Nonsense, when have I been clinging to your mom? Instead, what about you? Don’t you know your mom’s birthday is coming up soon? Your older brother and the others can’t make it back, aren’t you planning to do something?”
Tang Chuxia sighed, “Dad, is there a possibility that I’ve already prepared something, and you just don’t know about it?”
Father Tang uttered an “oh.”
He wanted to ask what Tang Chuxia had prepared, but she gave him two words, “Secret!”
Not even Father Tang’s staring eyes made a difference.
Licorice on the side was trying hard not to laugh.
As long as Tang Chuxia was at home, the household would be filled with joy.
Fortunately, Father Tang wasn’t one to hold a grudge against his daughter. He said, “In any case, you must make your mom happy, or I’ll deal with you!”
Tang Chuxia stuck out her tongue.
Father Tang suddenly trying to please his wife was a move that no one could make sense of.
Fortunately, Tang Chuxia didn’t care to understand; she just wanted her mother to be happy.
Amidst laughter, Little Brother came back, looking utterly exhausted, probably because of increased work pressure recently. Seeing Tang Chuxia and Licorice chatting, he enviously collapsed beside them.
“Why is it that despite being the same kind of person, I have to suffer so much?”
It was bad enough that his love life wasn’t going well, and it would be okay if his career could take off. Unfortunately, he was also busy as a dog at work, doing more than Tang Chuxia, yet he was not as popular as she was.
Tang Chuxia said, “It’s because you never give yourself a break. If it were me, I definitely wouldn’t let myself get so tired!”
Compared to Tang Chuxia, who had been pampered and cherished since childhood, with a sunny and optimistic disposition, quickly resolving many problems without complaining or allowing herself to suffer.
Little Brother felt even more defeated, “I just want to make a difference. Is that not allowed?”
Tang Chuxia shook her head; she could tell that Little Brother hadn’t gotten over his heartbreak.
“Brother, the best way to get over a breakup is to start a new relationship. With so many beautiful people out there, there’s bound to be a girl who shares your interests and meets your aesthetic standards!”
Tang Jianbing had been bitten by a snake once and was afraid of well ropes for ten years; at this time, he firmly refused to find another girl to date.
“Well, forget it, as long as you’re not into men, I think our mom can wait!”
Right after Tang Chuxia finished speaking, Tang Jianbing rapped her on the head.
He was straight and definitely not interested in the same sex.
Amid the sibling horseplay, Madam Tang came back, with Father Tang trailing behind her like a tail.
“Mom, what’s up with you two? Why does my dad look as sullen as a frosted eggplant?” Tang Chuxia was particularly gossip-hungry.
Madam Tang replied irritably, “Your dad is being annoying!”
The siblings immediately turned their attention to Father Tang.
Father Tang waved his hands dismissively, “Nothing like that, just someone trying to hit on your mother, and I had to chase him away!”
Now, Tang Chuxia and Tang Jianbing knew what was going on. The only man who could get under Father Tang’s skin like this was one person.
“Uncle Xue came again?”
Just as Tang Chuxia asked, Xue Zhanyi’s voice came from the doorway, “Xiaxia, look what uncle has brought for you!”
Playing along, Tang Chuxia looked up to indeed see Xue Zhanyi carrying a cage inside.
After one glance, Tang Chuxia exclaimed, “Where did this Persian cat come from?”
Xue Zhanyi smiled, “A friend gave it to me, but an old man like me really can’t take care of it. I thought you young girls would definitely like this, so I brought it over!”
Tang Chuxia said, “Thank you, Uncle Xue!”
She really liked this cat.
Its proud and aloof demeanor, and most importantly, its heterochromatic eyes, were exactly what Tang Chuxia loved most about cats.
Seeing how Tang Chuxia couldn’t put the cat down, Xue Zhanyi knew the gift was a success, and then he turned to Tang Jianbing, “Xiao Bing, I happened to get a set of tools with nothing to do, take a look and see if you like them!”
Tang Jianbing was going to maintain his politeness, but when he saw what Xue Zhanyi brought him, he immediately expressed his fondness.
Father Tang gritted his teeth in frustration but was at a loss for what to do.
Because he couldn’t offer a Persian cat nor the toolbox that his son liked.
“What’s so great about that? No matter how they try to ingratiate, they’re still my children!” Father Tang muttered, earning a sharp look from Madam Tang.
Father Tang’s mood soured even more.
“Are you still thinking about him?” Father Tang’s accusation was met with Madam Tang’s retort, “Are you sick?”
Even if she were to eat her words, she wouldn’t do so now.
Fortunately, Father Tang was decent enough not to make too much of a scene, only glaring daggers at Xue Zhanyi.
But Xue Zhanyi had a legitimate reason for being there.
He had come to discuss with Madam Tang whether to meet with some old friends, since many were curious about the situation abroad upon learning of his return and had organized a get-together.
Madam Tang agreed that it would be nice to see old friends after so many years. Xue Zhanyi wasn’t too familiar with them, so Madam Tang would do the outreach.
Father Tang struggled to join the conversation as he nearly transformed into the spirit of jealousy.
“Dad, acting like this is no use at all. The hurt from a first love is too great, and the wrongdoings you’ve done aren’t limited to just one. Mom hasn’t divorced you, that’s already giving you face. Don’t make a fuss, or you might end up losing your wife and have nowhere to cry!”
Tang Chuxia’s advice was not well received; as soon as she spoke up, Father Tang directed all his anger at her.
“Are you even my biological daughter? Whose side are you on?”
Tang Chuxia laughed gleefully, “Of course, I’m on my mom’s side!”
