This was Floette's first official battle since joining Cain's team.

Only Cynthia recognized Floette immediately, as her constant travels had given her broader knowledge about various Pokémon.
By changing her type to Grass, Floette activated her ability, Flower Veil, which prevents Grass-type allies from having their stats lowered or being affected by status conditions. In this form, Floette was at her best.
Roxanne, on the other hand, found herself at a loss on how to fight a Pokémon she knew nothing about.
From Floette's appearance, she seemed to be a Grass-type Pokémon, which placed Kabutops—her Rock/Water-type Pokémon—at a massive disadvantage, being highly vulnerable to Grass moves.
