Cain observed Regi's movements without interrupting him. Beside him, Aurelia grew increasingly anxious.
At that moment, Nidoking was injured. If they joined forces, they might still have a chance to defeat him, but if Nidoking recovered, Aurelia feared that even united, they wouldn't stand a chance.
"Regi, with all your meticulous plans, doesn't it seem like a waste that, in the end, nothing worked out?" Cain said.
"Waste? What waste?"
"I was so close to achieving it, and if I hadn't tried, I wouldn't have even had the chance to cross that door. How would we know it isn't the greatest treasure on the island?" Regi replied while continuing to heal Nidoking, trying to buy time by talking with Cain.
There was no need to hide anything anymore; after all, both sides had severed ties, and the possibility of future cooperation was out of the question.
"True, though I must admit what intrigues me the most is your true identity. It's not normal for someone in the inner circle of the great Master Surge to have access to so many resources, information, and connections, enough to know about this island and its ruins," Cain commented, voicing a long-standing doubt.
Regi paused his treatment for a moment and smiled enigmatically.
"The truth is, the only one here who doesn't know my identity is you, Cain. I haven't tried to hide it. Ask anyone, and you'll get the answers you seek."
