"Why are those Magmar here?" Steven asked, looking at the two Magmar approaching from the distance.
This wasn't Steven's first time climbing Mt. Chimney; he was a frequent visitor in search of oddly shaped volcanic rocks.
He was quite familiar with Magmar, who preferred high-temperature environments. Although the temperature on the mountain slope was high, it wasn't an ideal place for them.
Moreover, Magmar typically fed on magma minerals in volcanoes or other volcanic creatures, so they rarely descended the mountain to hunt.
"They have a strange expression on their faces. They look a bit frightened and somewhat irritated," Cain observed, keeping his gaze fixed on the two approaching Magmar.
While Cain and Steven pondered the situation, Skorupi and Lairon seemed excited. Although they had fought a lot on their way up, their opponents hadn't been challenging. Finally, two Pokémon appeared who seemed worthy of a fight.
"Let's first control the situation. You take one, and I'll handle the other!" Steven suggested.
Cain nodded.
"Skorupi, use Hone Claws and Toxic Spikes!"
Two of the moves Skorupi had recently learned were put to real combat use after just one night of training.
The move Hone Claws was simpler, as Skorupi had received tips from Weavile the night before. By rubbing its pincers together, their shine increased slightly.
