The other Pokémon who witnessed Slowpoke's evolution displayed astonished expressions on their faces.
Suddenly, Slowking smiled foolishly, and it was then that the other Pokémon confirmed that the standing Pokémon before them was their former clumsy companion.

Slowking called out to the Slowpoke from his group.
The response came from all the Slowpoke, who gazed at him with admiration, recognizing him as their king.
"Master, I want to find them a safe place to live," Slowking said to Cain through telepathy.
Cain pondered for a moment, then seemed to recall something.
With a smile, he said, "Take them to Leafy Town. I'm planning to open a water-type gym there. We'll create a large lake in the town where the Slowpoke can live. Afterward, I can bring some Shellder from the Kanto region to place in the lake, so the Slowpoke and Shellder can interact and evolve."
The connection between Slowking and his group of Slowpoke was clearly tied to the Leadership item Slowking possessed. If Cain wanted Slowking to retain that item, it was best to keep the Slowpoke under his care.
Cain also wanted to investigate whether the effects of this item could grow. If the group of Slowpoke expanded, perhaps Slowking's power would change as well.
The lake would be filled with many water-type Pokémon, and if Cain managed to relocate them all, it would form a complete water-type gym, attracting attention. People would want to catch water-type Pokémon and visit the gym, increasing its reputation.
