Chapter 396 - 395: The Black Serpent

When Alec and the others reached the gate, there was no battle as they had expected because the two guards were already fast asleep.
As the village's self-proclaimed rulers, the Black Serpent guards didn't anticipate anyone attacking their hideout in the middle of the night. They were used to relaxing and dozing off after midnight.
Thus, they failed to notice Alec and the others' ambush.
"Kill them," Alec ordered with a frown, thinking the Black Serpent Gang was even more pathetic than he had imagined.
