Chapter 299: Finale
Above her, dozens of spears, sleek and starlit, materialized. Each one was wreathed in elemental flame. [Astral Spear Volley], upgraded and amplified, now called [Meteor Lance Barrage], answered gravity with contempt as she slammed her palms down.
The spears hit as one, both of the spiders she’d already injured.
The impact was thunderous. The first few pierced through chitin like wet parchment, and the rest followed, erupting in a chain of elemental bursts that blew the pair of monsters into charred ruins. The corpses collapsed into the webbed floor with a wet crunch, steaming in multiple colors.
Nyx exhaled slowly, the pink glow in her eyes dimming just enough to show her smirk. "I feel awake."
"Nyx, I need the last three! Help the girls!" Kaiden shouted. If Nyx assisted in their slaying, his requirement wouldn’t be filled. He needed to kill them alone while in Wrath Stance.
Kaiden felt conflicted about telling Nyx this, but in the end, he decided her new and empowered self was better used to assist against the boss monster instead of its minions.
He could hold these three back by himself and complete the requirement at the same time. At the same time, Nyx could breathe some fresh air into the boss battle using her new spells. Right now, she was probably their strongest member, so it was best she focused on the most dangerous enemy.
"Roger!" she chirped, clearly having an adrenaline rush due to the might of her upgraded powers.
Kaiden launched himself back into the fray, gauntlet morphing fluidly between shield, claw, and whip as he charged the remaining spiders. Sparks flew and acidic spit hissed as he carved through their ranks, each strike precise, brutal, and unrelenting. Wrath Stance lent him a rhythm of violence.
At the same time, Nyx began observing the chaos. Luna’s Stormblade streaked in white-blue arcs, frantic but deadly, slicing through every opportunity the Countess created. Aria’s moonlit spells danced with precision. Her calm, strategic approach was the perfect contrast to the storm around her. Bastet’s golden solar flames erupted in disciplined torrents, zoning the Countess and forcing her to retreat from open attacks.
