Chapter 141: Chilling in the Oasis
The team that had four members and weren’t Kaiden’s nor Vaelira’s were told to give a member to Dorothy’s team as they had only two members remaining, balancing them out by having three people each.
After that, the hunt resumed. Knowing there were only a few minutes left until their turn came to guard the camp, Kaiden and co didn’t leave.
"Don’t you dare touch our stuff..." Vaelira hissed at the group as she stood, ready to depart. As Jack walked by, he bumped his broad shoulder into Kaiden’s with enough force to make him take a half-step back. The impact was solid, and his heavy armor added extra weight to the motion. It wasn’t an outright hostile attack, but a deliberate move, one of dominance and a silent challenge.
Kaiden didn’t react besides meeting Jack’s eyes and reaching for his axe’s handle. Jack had a smug grin as he continued forward without a word.
"What a lovely bunch..." Nyx said sarcastically before plopping her sensual behind on the table and reaching for a can of Coke.
"Khm!" Aria coughed into her palm while observing the item in the pink-haired beauty’s hands with squinted eyes.
"I sweated out like 50,000 calories in the past six hours, I need to replenish them! This scorching desert sun, combined with my medium armor, is going to be the end of me!" The Space Valkyrie wasn’t ready to heed her personal trainer’s words, not one bit.
"You don’t have to worry; your enormous fat reserves will keep you alive for months. You’re basically a camel," Luna chimed in, receiving a "bleergh!" from Nyx as she pushed her tongue out in response.
Aria ignored the two kittens’ newest jabs. "You’ll just pee those unhealthy sodas out. You need real food, something with protein and carbs to actually restore your energy, not just provide a sugar rush."
Nyx wasn’t receptive to her words of wisdom. "Let’s make a new rule, Princess... I’m truly grateful for your guidance, but so long as we’re inside a dungeon, you cease being my personal trainer. Deal?"
"Same," Luna said while seating herself as far away from Nyx at the table as possible after grabbing a jar of N*tella and a spoon from the box of supplies.
"Haaah..." Aria sighed, but when Kaiden gave her plump butt a playful slap, she smiled happily and decided to go along with the girls’ wishes. She reasoned they had to have a way to deal with the stress of their situation.
