Chapter 39: Revelation
"She did it for me."
"W-what do you mean?"
"Vespera and Alice, my younger sister, were the only two who treated me like a human being. Vespera always respected my choices and freedom; she might've even been happy when I moved away from home because she knew that I was suffering there.
Vespera must've already known weeks ago that I planned to star in today's filming, yet made no move to interject, leaving the decision up to me. It's my life, after all. However, my decision would've enraged my father, brothers, and elder sister. Vespera disowned me to save me from having to face their wrath, knowing full well that they would be out to get revenge for sullying their prestigious name and silence me for eternity."
"This is just too much for me..." Nyx stated. Her brain was officially fried.
"Yeah. I did call Kaiden our prince a few times as a jest, but to think that he was the modern-day equivalent of a prince all along..." Luna voiced her thoughts with pure disbelief.
"Are you fine, Kai? Let me know if I can do anything to cheer you up. Anything," Aria said with worried eyes while caressing his hand supportively.
"I'm fine. Even if I knew for certain that this was going to be the result of my actions, I would've done the same if I were to be returned in time. I got to meet you three lovely girls, and I'm as happy as I've ever been. The Ashborn family name did nothing for me.
I even took out a student loan instead of asking for an allowance because I wanted to be independent. Now I have no other choice but to stand on my own two legs, and I honestly feel liberated as well as excited to experience what the future has in store for me," Kaiden stated with a jovial smile.
Three pairs of eyes scrutinized his face's every little detail, searching for signs of deception or plain untruthfulness, but they found no such thing.
"It might be selfish of me to say, but I'm also delighted with your decision, Kaiden," Nyx spoke up after a short while.
"I have to agree with Miss Mommy Milkers over here. You quite likely saved all of us today. At the very least, our mental health for sure." Luna agreed.
