Chapter 34: The Cat-Eared Nini with Dilated Pupils
Romon clicked submit.
The character in the blueprint immediately began running toward Princess Angelia, while Spidevs, following her assassination route, quickly pursued.
[Round 2 ends! The frontlines sent back intelligence: Nightingale Lord was personally stationed at Stone Town, but he wasn't attacking—only defending. It turned out he was waiting for a series of assassinations to unfold. He had conspired with Lord Matthews, hiring Spidevs and a knight of honor. Spidevs carried out the first assassination, and the knight of honor was tasked with killing Spidevs. Spidevs was extremely swift, ignoring the princess's warnings and fighting to the death to complete her mission. In the end, the Thune lord died, and Spidevs was killed by the knight of honor. This simulation ended in failure.]
"So it was a chain assassination?" Romon thought to himself.
The blueprint didn't yet show the "Knight of Honor," but based on intel from the mercenary market, he was said to be the strongest in Stone Town. Since the second round summary mentioned him, it was clear that he had been bought by Nightingale Lord.
Additionally, the summary mentioned that Lord Matthews had been involved in the assassination plot.
Under the law of the Sionnas Empire, a lord's life could only be judged by the king—no matter how much murder, arson, or rape they committed.
Anyone else who killed a lord would face the king's wrath.
The Nightingale Lord and Lord Matthews, in their arrogance, had carried out this chain assassination. They had gained a temporary victory, but soon, the king's vengeance would fall upon them.
Now, there were only three simulation rounds left. The plan to attack Stone Town didn't need major adjustments; they just needed someone to block Spidevs' assassination attempt, or even better, to turn Spidevs to their side. If they could do that, they'd be fine.
Romon felt anxious. Spidevs had been around many lords for years, dealing with power, death, and money. She had seen it all. As for Thune territory, it had mines and wealth, but what lord didn't have some resources and riches?
