Chapter 3: Ch 3
Mira just smiled knowingly, as if she could read right through him. But she didn’t push the issue any further, instead changing the subject to something more else.
"That’s why I want you to live with us, maybe I could give you some good advice so you can get a girlfriend." Mira said, her expression turning from playful to sincere.
"I worry about you living alone and it would be nice to have someone around to help with the house and keep me company while my husband is away on business. But you always reject our offers, Alex." She sighed, her eyes showing a hint of disappointment.
Mira’s gaze became distant as she recalled the numerous times she and her husband had attempted to convince Alex to move in with them, but all in vain.
But despite his repeated refusals, Mira never gave up hope that Alex would eventually change his mind and accept her offer to live with them.
However, with each passing year, her hope began to dwindle, until she found herself on the brink of giving up entirely.
Alex’s voice was calm and collected as he made his surprising offer. "Sure, how about I start living here from today" he said, his eyes meeting Mira’s.
Mira’s response was halted mid-sentence as Alex’s unexpected offer sunk in.
She paused, her eyes locked on Alex’s, her mind struggling to process the sudden change in his stance. "It’s alright if you don’t want to, I can understa--" she trailed off, the words catching in her throat.
Had he really just agreed to her long-standing offer? Mira’s heart fluttered with hope and uncertainty, unsure of what to make of Alex’s sudden change of heart.
Mira’s mind reeled as she struggled to comprehend the gravity of Alex’s response.
She felt as though she must have misheard him, so she asked him to repeat himself. "Can you repeat what you just said? I think I must have misheard you," she said, her tone tentative and hopeful.
