Chapter 93: Keep it cool.
"He looks familiar because he is Samuel. The guy who led us out." Theo clipped, his jaw tightening.
Bethany was speechless and confused. She rewound the footage, reducing the speed so she could study Samuel’s interaction with one of the men- probably the leader- of the men that were sent to ambush them.
Their interaction didn’t seem to carry the slightest ounce of bad energy. It seemed like they were going over their plans and discussing minor issues they might have had.
The familiarity between the two men was unmistakable.
But it didn’t make sense to her at all.
He was obviously in on the plan to ambush them, so why did he lead them through a secret pathway and away from the ambush, instead of ambushing them there at once? He had the chance but didn’t take it.
"Why?" Bethany couldn’t help but mutter. "Why did he pretend?" She asked, her eyes still on the footage.
Samuel shook the other man’s hand in understanding, heading into the building to assume his position, but not before looking up at the camera briefly.
"And to think we are expecting him in a few minutes." Theo muttered, leaning away.
"Expecting him? Why?" Bethany asked in confusion.
"He was supposed to send a report of everything that happened and all he knew and could find about it, but Troy thought it wise to invite him over. Said something about it being easier to understand that way." Theo said scoffing, running his hand through his hair.
