Chapter 26: Who says I’ll leave?
"What’s with the reaction? I’m generously offering you my lap here."
"So why are you—"
"Just go to sleep."
Cutting him off mid-sentence, he yanked him forward by the collar of his shirt, pulling him unceremoniously onto his lap. Yoon Seoyul blinked in surprise, momentarily stunned, his breath catching as his gaze met Cheon Areum’s. A few untamed strands of hair had fallen over his eyes, brushing against his lashes. Cheon Areum raised a hand and gently swept the strands away, fingers moving through his hair in a slow, deliberate motion. Reluctantly closing his eyes, Yoon Seoyul fell asleep, his breathing growing steady as Cheon Areum continued to run his fingers through his hair, calm and constant.
Cheon Areum sat motionless, thoughtlessly staring down at Yoon Seoyul’s sleeping face. The faint rise and fall of his chest, the peaceful expression on his face—it was oddly mesmerizing. Time slipped through his fingers like water, unnoticed. By the time he blinked back to awareness, the sky outside had changed hues. An hour had passed already. No wonder his legs were beginning to go numb.
Maybe making him lay on my lap wasn’t the best idea.
He wanted to stretch out his legs, but Yoon Seoyul showed no signs of waking up anytime soon. That’s when the door—which had been closed this entire time—flew open as Kim Ryung entered the office unquietly.
"Master, I got—"
Instinctively, his hands moved to cover Yoon Seoyul’s ears. Whatever Kim Ryung was about to say stayed unsaid as he saw them on the couch, confusion written all over his face.
"He’s really sleeping?"
"Yeah."
