Secretly Mine

Chapter 118: A New Kind of Pain

Liam looked at me with a heavy sigh. "I know this is hard for you, but please understand that he’s going through a lot right now, and any additional thing could potentially break him."

I wiped the tears that were still rolling down my cheeks with my hands and nodded. Christian’s health was more important than anything else...even our relationship.

"Do you think he will get his memories back?" I asked after a long moment of silence.

Liam frowned, "This is something I can’t be sure of. As much as I want to say that he will, it just depends on him and how he recovers."

At least there’s a chance.

Before Liam walked out, I asked him one final question, one that’s not been sitting well with me.

"Doctor, this wasn’t a car accident, right?" I asked, looking straight into his eyes. "I’m asking you this as not just his doctor, but as his friend."

Liam paused, looking over at me for a good minute before answering.

"I’m not sure. But I find it very hard to believe that Christian got drunk and was stupid enough to drive home in that state. I’ve known him for many years, and although he occasionally drinks, it’s never to the point of full intoxication."

I nodded, this was what I observed while with him as well. "He hardly drank all night at the auction event. I was with him up until the very end."

"Can you tell me what happened? Anything you add can help us paint a better picture of what happened that night," asked Liam. He looked very determined to get to the bottom of Christian’s accident.
