Chapter 75: A Crippling Addiction
"I would be very honored if I were allowed to come and spend some time with you and your sister, would that be okay?"
Cherie’s words stunned me. It was a question I wasn’t expecting, but it showed how far she was willing to go to put a rift between Christian and Morgan.
My lips curved up into a big smile. "Yes, that’s a wonderful idea! We would love your company!"
Why not bring my sister a nice welcome gift home to keep her busy.
"It’s so nice to see Cherie getting along well with Leslie. I always felt bad for her because we needed to move so often due to my wife’s health; she never had the chance to make strong friendships," said Roan from the hospital bed.
"How is your wife now?" asked Christian.
"She’s doing much better. The warmer weather and mild climate suits her very well," answered Roan.
After realizing that I wasn’t what she expected, Cherie pretended to be tired and walked over to take a seat in the armchair.
After living all these years with Morgan, I’ve seen every trick in the book. It was easy to tell what she was thinking.
Christian also noticed Cherie’s tired demeanor and looked over at Roan. "We will give you both some time to rest. Please let me know if there’s anything you need. I will come visit tomorrow."
Roan nodded, "Thank you so much for today, Christian. You really are my benefactor. I don’t know if I would have made it out of the woods alive."
