Chapter 40: Confident Misunderstanding
The next morning, when I woke up, I expected Christian to be gone, but when I looked down, I found him still sleeping beside me.
"Christian! Hurry! Wake up! It’s already so late in the morning!" I shook him in a panic.
Instead of jumping out of bed, like I had expected, Christian pulled me over closer to him with his strong, muscular arm.
"What’s the rush? I want to spend every minute I can with you," he mumbled, wrapping his arms around me.
I felt very conflicted. A big part of me was blissfully happy that Christian wanted to be around me as much as I wanted to be around him, but I knew that the chances of us being caught grew exponentially with every passing moment.
"The maid will be here any minute to announce breakfast," I said nervously.
I heard Christian let out a deep sigh, mumbling something under his breath.
He sat up and shifted himself so that he was leaning over on top of me.
"How are you feeling? You’re not hurting anywhere, are you?" he asked, placing a kiss on my forehead. "I lost control last night, I’m sorry."
While I certainly felt sore even after the peaceful sleep, I felt energetic and happy.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and pecked him on the lips, "No, I’m not hurting. Don’t worry," I replied with a soft smile.
