Chapter 69: Finding Rory

"Anna, hold the tray properly." I said as I carried the rest of the stuff which we had used for the picnic this evening. Anna rolled her eyes but did as told without questions.
It was clear that she was gonna be a handful in the coming years, and I was a little scared. I wanted her to be a baby forever, to be my baby and never grow up. But I knew that was nothing but wistful thinking.
"Kenny?" She called out and I hummed, peering down at her.
"Do you like Rory?" She asked and I spluttered for a few seconds.
"Why do you ask?"
She leveled me with an unimpressed look. "Because you care about him a lot." She pointed out and I got the urge to pinch my nose. I had forgotten how smart Anna was.
"I care about everyone." I responded instead and she hummed, a thoughtful expression across her face.
"But you don’t treat everyone like Rory. You treat him... differently." She said without stopping like she’d normally do. We were currently heading towards the car where Rory is already waiting for us.
