Chapter 41: The Stranger Alpha

Trevor rained down a series of curses and threats on me and at the end of the call, I was actually scared while wondering if I hadn’t just created a hot myself for my life with my own hands.
Trevor threatened to find me and do unthinkable things to me in order to teach me a lesson for thinking I could outsmart him and go scot free. I felt a little sick after the call and I had even forgotten that I hadn’t been alone throughout the call until the kind alpha steadied me when I stumbled a little.
His warm scent hit my nose. He smelt of sage and wine. His eyes were filled with worry when I peered up at him and I instantly felt myself being engulfed by embarrassment at the realization that this stranger had basically listened in on the entire conversation.
"Are you alright?" He asked, voice smooth as it washed over me and I stepped out of his hold and awkwardly cleared my throat before shoving my phone into my pocket, and then I nodded jerkily.
"Yeah, I- I am. Thanks for asking."
His handsomeness was marred by a frown as he stared down at me, and I instantly felt the urge to flee from his presence.
"Are you sure?" He finally asked and I nodded, cheeks pink as I let my eyes dart around to ensure we weren’t being stared at right now. But we were being stared at, because of course people just couldn’t mind their business.
I cleaned my throat again and took another step backward.
