Chapter 189: I Will Burn The World!
With a loud noise similar to the bursting of a firecracker, before Kylian could stop thinking, the dusky sky above their head was illuminated with bright yellowish-red flames when the oil lamp burst aloud inside the paper lantern, immediately reducing the entire setup into ashes, especially the lucky windchimes which made that specific loud noise.
In the beginning initial seconds, the lantern caught fire first but before the burst, some faint white smoke scattered out of that paper lantern which only existed for a few seconds before dissipating with the strong mountain breeze.
However, the white smoke appeared like some scribbled writing from afar, but hardly anyone could notice it vividly as their eyes were anxiously watching the lantern being caught up with fire.
The loud sound faded the serene smile from that middle-aged monk’s face, however, the elderly monk stared still at the scenario, holding a blank expression on his face. In fact for a few seconds, Zenith was spellbound to witness the sudden turnover of the situation, but his main concern that rose in his mind was...how would Kylian react after this?
Amidst that anticipating silence, Kylian was the most shocked one who couldn’t blink his lashes, staring ardently at that beautiful red lantern that dissipated from his sight in the form of mere ashes. It wasn’t just an ordinary lantern, but a bundle of hope about their future where he had started to imagine Zenith in it.
Strangely enough until a few days ago, Kylian never knew there would be one person stubbornly barging into his life and would never hesitate to cherish him so much...that to the extent that his heart would unknowingly accept him without a second thought.
Especially after he had realized his feelings for Zenith, Kylian knew well that imagining a life without that person next to him would be quite an impossible task for him, and that’s why he had put everything at stake just on one prayer to let the sacred ritual become a proof as their happily ever after in future.
But his hopes were brutally crushed, just in a similar way when he transitioned into an omega on the night of his 19th birthday, when all his life he had only yearned to become a strong Alpha. Watching those tiny scatters of ashes disappearing from their sight, Kylian couldn’t stop his throat from being choked with an urge to sob, as his cheeks had started to sting hard when he tried suppressing that feeling.
"Oh no...this is the first time...we have witnessed the sacred lamp burst like that..." After keeping a long heavy pause, the middle-aged monk first broke the intense silence between them, exhaling a heavy sigh as he lowered his gaze down. "The lantern should have floated smoothly up in the air and disappeared from our sight...but it is the first time we saw it actually bursting like a firecracker. I guess...then it can be said...the result was failure..."
