Chapter 177: Where Is Zenith?
"Why does your eyes look so sad, as if you are about to cry?"
Poking the deep frown in between in his brows with his thick index finger, when Aiden mumbled curiously, his voice retrieved Barnes back to the present from the beautiful memories of the past they had shared together in the Remsworth mansion.
Still holding onto that little flower petal that Aiden had plucked from his hair, just like how his little Master Aiden used to do back in the days, Barnes didn’t realize himself getting so indulged in his thoughts, that he forgot about the present day.
But as if the sad face he retained all this time amidst that anticipating silence between them, it really caught Aiden’s attention, and he couldn’t stand his curiosity from asking him, "You seemed to be lost in some really deep thoughts...what were you thinking so sincerely?"
His curious mumble made Barnes lift his head up, and when he gazed at his gleaming brown eyes, a small sad smile curved his lips when he pondered to himself, ’Looking through our beautiful memories once again, my heart feels so heavy, that its hard to breathe.
’While I am enduring this tangible pain inside my chest, being the only one who remembers everything now, but still, somehow it feels it would be just better for you to forget all the pained memories from your past, even if it included me...Master Aiden. Our past was just like a bruise that would have turned blue over the years...and...since I was the one who broke our promise and left your hand first, I feel it’s only fair if you forget about me too.
’I will consider it as my punishment, Master Aiden. But even now, I still fear the possibility that someday...if your memories come back...would you hate me for leaving you all alone when you had no one to rely upon? At that time I was too helpless and battered, your Mother would’ve harmed you again if I tried to act stubborn...but, I wanted to tell you now that over these span of years, I have fought hard to become stronger and gave it all up so that I could come back for you once again.
’I know I shouldn’t have any right to ask you this...but...can we ever go back to cherish our precious bond that we had in the past? Will I be too shameless if I ask for your forgiveness?’
"Hello? Mr. Old Coot, if you keep zoning out like this, it makes me even more curious to find out what are you so seriously thinking about?" Flicking his fingers before Barnes’s face, Aiden sounded a bit grumpy from his tone, acting a little childish unknowingly.
