Chapter 113: Would You Trust Me?
Just as Zenith had anticipated, using his private jet took him less than an hour to reach Bethel town. Barnes went through a hell lot of trouble to arrange a proficient pilot for him, but watching Zenith’s desperation to save Marita’s life had riled his instincts to do whatever it took.
The private jet had to land quite far from the hospital and from there, a black Sedan had already arrived to take Zenith to the hospital where she was admitted. Barnes drove the car as fast as he could, and in that short drive of 15 minutes, he observed Zenith was constantly checking his phone, while biting his nails which he often did whenever he was under a strenuous situation.
"Young Master?" Barnes called him a low murmur first but watching him too focussed at his screen to even hear him, he raised his voice, "YOUNG MASTER?"
"What? Did we reach the hospital?" Zenith hurriedly slid his phone inside his pocket, while asking in a deliberate tone.
"We are almost there. But, I have a request, please." Sounding a bit anxious from his tone, Barnes mumbled, "You mustn’t forget your public image here since Bethel is a very small town compared to our Westport. And, I bet everyone here would be easily able to recognize your face as the Lumina Pharmaceutical President’s son since they must have seen it all over in the TV."
"I don’t fuckin’ care whether they recognize me or not. I just want to visit her as quickly as possible!" But Zenith sounded a bit cranky from his response, as if he was very pertubed inside to make a normal conversation at that moment.
"I understand your anticipation, Young Master. But I believe you must want to keep your visit here a secret from your father as well as Boss Clark, right?"
As if Barnes accurately hit the point, Zenith calmed down a bit while meeting his gaze through the front mirror. With a heavy exhale, Barnes confidently asserted him, "That’s why, its better to not let anyone see your bare face here, Master. In front of you there’s a small bag, I have put a black cap and a black mask to cover your lower face. Please make sure you do not take it off, no matter what happens."
Just as he said, Zenith found a small pouch bag right in front of his seat and reluctantly he followed Barnes’s instructions, knowing that he was correct about the part that he didn’t want anyone to learn about his visit here, especially Mr. Clark who tends to keep a sharp observation on him.
By then they reached the entrance of the hospital and Zenith didn’t take more than a second to jump out of the car. However, watching the shabby run down hospital before him stirred a feeling of anxiety inside him, pondering what kind of awful post-surgery treatment Kylian’s mother must have faced here.
He rushed inside, closely followed by Barnes to the hallroom where they were supposed to find Marita. However, in front of that emergency care unit, an old lady was screaming at a nurse with tears in her eyes, sounding very desperate. It was none other than Granny Elma who had also accompanied Marita to the hospital.
