Chapter 110: Hold On A Little
Before Mr. Clark had assigned Barnes to work under Zenith, he had clearly warned him about two things...
Firstly, Zenith lacked empathy for others...no matter what kind of situation arose, he would always spot him unhinged, and he must have to be accustomed it to.
Secondly, as a cold-hearted, relentless guy, Zenith would trample over anyone’s feelings even if it would be the harshest thing to do in the world. He would never put anyone else over himself...and these two rules were strictly memorized by Barnes before he came to Zenith.
But now, watching the completely opposite scene before him had left Barnes too baffled to speak! Rolling his confused orbs, he saw Zenith was trembling with a pale dreadful look apparent on his face as if he was badly shaken by the revelation.
Earlier when Zenith had ordered him to keep a watch on Kylian’s mother Marita and inform every report he gathered, Barnes had anticipated just like he was taught, that Zenith wouldn’t bother to worry anymore or less even if Marita ended up dead.
But his distressed expression gave him the clear idea that Zenith didn’t turn into a completely heartless devil... His cold heart could still feel empathy...especially towards that one person who had become the center point of his attention, Kylian Marley.
As a man in his late 20s, Barnes was a little mature compared to Zenith as he stepped closer, pondering if he could comfort him even if it was a little in his distraught state, "Young Master, please get a grip over yourself. And I didn’t make any mistakes while gathering the information you had asked me before. This woman...is indeed in a very critical state, and I think—"
"TING!"
But before Barnes could finish his words, the notification popup sound in Zenith’s phone winced both of them, especially Zenith who didn’t waste a second before grabbing out his phone. When his perplexed gaze fell on the screen, his face which had already run out of blood from dread now had a look of dismay evident on him.
"Where are you? What are you doing? You had asked me to stay near you but you’re the one who seemed to have disappeared in thin air... I haven’t blocked your number, but be honest with me, you aren’t thinking of bothering any other students, right?"
Kylian’s text flashed brightly on his screen, leaving Zenith utterly spellbound as it was the very first he had taken the initiative to text him. Even though he kept rereading the text over a hundred times, the horrible timing messed up his mind, making Zenith stand frozen with countless emotions gushing inside his heart.
"Young Master, what do you command me next? Please tell me..." Barnes felt a bit concerned by watching his expression turn aghast with every fleeting second. He didn’t get to see the sender of the text, but he could see Zenith’s eyes were getting darker, while fixated at the screen.
