Chapter 58: I Know Already
Kylian’s phone kept ringing aloud even though he was constantly fighting his inner turmoils considering whether to answer Marita’s call or not. He was badly nervous inside, and at that moment, watching the sight of that beautiful seashore from the doctor’s chamber, he couldn’t resist the urge to visit there, since watching the mild sea waves drifting at their own pace had always helped him to calm down his nerves since he was a child.
However, he was well aware that as a patient under Dr. Albert’s observation, he wouldn’t be allowed to leave the room without his permission. Thus he didn’t use the door and straightaway jumped out of the window, using the wooden cornices on each floor as a support to climb down safely without getting hurt.
Using their physical reflexes at a swift pace was also considered to be a part of the Alpha’s training, but like many other moves, Kylian had mastered this as well. He didn’t face any injury while climbing down from the 8th floor of the building, and escaping everyone’s gazes, he straightaway ran towards the seashore which seemed quite near to the south of the hospital.
Upon reaching the beach, just like he had expected, the blue glistening ocean waves looked very enchanting to him. It was his first time watching the sea after he arrived in this new city, and especially after enduring such a drastic turmoil of his life overnight, he was in dire need to get a breather.
But when Marita’s call vibrated his phone again, this time he couldn’t bring himself to ignore his beloved mother anymore. Indeed he was dying inside to hear her voice once, or just open his heart while sobbing his eyes out. But putting his inner thoughts aside, Kylian assorted to forge a small smile and answered her calmly, "Hello, Mom?"
"Kyle!? Goodness, do you even realize for how long I have been calling you for now?" Marita’s anxious grunt sounded like a melody in his ears, and Kylian couldn’t stop himself from getting teary.
The comfort and sincerity in her tone made him painfully realize again that he was now completely alone in this new city...while attaining the most vulnerable phase of his life.
"Mom, I am sorry, I...I was in the class, so...I didn’t hear your call." He pushed himself to squeeze out a blatant lie while sounding very calm.
"But aren’t you supposed to be on your lunch break now? I think you had given me a list of your schedules for your initial classes." Marita’s voice sounded a bit baffled from the other side of the tone as she conversed, "Maybe it was my mistake, I think I overlapped the timing with your schedule, Kyle."
’No, Mom...You didn’t do anything wrong. But how could I tell you that I was forcibly dragged to the hospital to complete my mandatory medical examination... How could I ever tell you that I have become...a...damn omega!’
The words strongly echoed inside his mind, causing a sharp pain to stir inside his chest, but his mouth fell silent, apart from his tearful gaze viewing the sea when he urged, "Mom, are you doing well?"
"Of course! Your Mom is very strong, you know that right?" Marita sounded very jovial over the call when she let out a small chuckle, "Though, your unresponsiveness had made me worry very much until I heard you again, Kyle. But I will let every mistake of yours slide today because it is your 19th Birthday! My baby has finally stepped into the world of adults...and I can’t be more proud than you ever, Kyle. Happy birthday, my baby."
