Chapter 2: Who is he?
"I have reached Westport, Mom." Holding a vibrant smile, Kylian informed his mother over the call as soon as he reached his destination.
Bethel was a very small sea-coast town with no airports, thus he had no other choice apart from boarding a train to reach Westport city. But as soon as he stepped down, the lavish, exquisite buildings startled him, as he wondered if he had entered a whole different world!
Kylian gazed all around his surroundings while clenching the metal handle of his trolley bag as he walked out of the station.
His ocean eyes were beaming with hope and joy when he reported it to Marita, "Mom, this is a whole new level of the world we had been living there until now. The buildings are magnificent skyscrapers, and most of the people drive crazy expensive cars which I have only seen on the internet until now...Everything feels different here from our town, Mom!"
"Really? That's great!" After a brief pause, Marita answered in a gentle tone from the other side as she continued, "Kyle, make many friends in the Academy, okay? They must be nice Alphas compared to our town, so be good to them. It will be your 19th birthday tomorrow, so celebrate it there with your new friends. And make sure to call me if you face any trouble over there...okay?"
Her soft but anxious words paused Kylian for a moment as he realized he had finally reached far away from his mother. Before he arrived here, Marita had already paid that huge sum of money in advance which made him feel a bit guilty for making her spend her life savings on him. Marita also didn't forget to give him enough pocket money that could last for a few weeks.
Holding a sad look in his eyes, he mumbled, "Mom, please don't work too hard over there. I will make sure to study well. I believe this Academy will shape me as a bright Alpha in the future, and we will be leading a better life together."
"Don't worry too much about me, honey. I am alright and I gotta go now. Take care, Kyle..." Kylian sensed Marita's voice tremble a bit as she spoke those words before disconnecting the call, making him hunch that she might be trying to suppress her tears while talking to him.
This was the very first time in his life Kylian was separated this far from Marita, but enduring the sadness that dawned inside him, he walked forward towards shaping his future ahead. Very soon he booked a taxi which was taking him to his ultimate destination...the Alpha Academy.
