Chapter 446: Rushed To The Hospital
"Move out of the way!" Xavier barked at the cars ahead, his voice sharp with panic. The drivers seemed clueless, meandering like they had no idea where they were going.
He slammed his foot on the accelerator, not caring in the slightest about the speed limit. Rules didn’t matter—not when Xander had been shot. Shot while shielding him from their father. The weight of that sacrifice sat heavy on his chest, stirring emotions he couldn’t even begin to name.
In the rearview mirror, he saw Anastasia and Samantha in the back seat. Xander lay across their laps, unmoving, as Samantha desperately pressed her hands against the gunshot wound on his chest. Tears streamed down her face, her entire body trembling.
"Don’t close your eyes," she whispered when she saw Xander’s lids begin to flutter. "Don’t." Her voice cracked.
Anastasia had to keep him conscious, digging her fingers into his arm to jolt him awake with pain. She was shaking too—less visibly than Samantha, but just as deeply rattled.
Another car followed behind them. In it were Mrs. Wallace and the Clarks, trailing closely.
Xavier’s knuckles turned white around the steering wheel. His eyes burned red with rage. Any guilt he’d once felt over the thought of killing their father had vanished. The only thing left was fear—fear that he might lose his twin brother today.
They screeched into the hospital parking lot a minute later.
Nurses rushed out with a stretcher. Samantha clung to Xander’s hand, refusing to let go even as they wheeled him inside.
"He’s been shot," the doctor said flatly. "We’ll need to report this to the police before we can begin treatment."
