Chapter 430: Regret
Tracie’s eyes widened in shock. "Maxwell? You can’t be serious." She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Kael folded his arms, his expression darkening. "I knew that bastard couldn’t be trusted." He barely knew Maxwell, but each time he saw him, he always felt an odd feeling towards the man.
Anastasia, however, remained silent, watching Xavier closely. His face was calm, but she could see the storm brewing beneath his composed exterior. He was completely in rage.
"How did you find out?" she asked, her voice measured.
Xavier exhaled slowly, like he was reigning in the urge to lash out. "I caught him sending a text. He was being careful, but not careful enough. I hacked into his phone." He paused, his gaze sharpening. "He’s working with Xander."
The room fell into a heavy silence.
Tracie sucked in a breath. "That means—"
"It means he’s been feeding Xander information this entire time," Xavier cut in, his voice low. "And now Xander knows about Fiona."
Anastasia stiffened. Since regaining most of her memories, she recalled her past encounters with Maxwell. He had always been a quiet observer, only speaking when necessary. He had seemed genuine, respectful. Never in her wildest thoughts had she considered him capable of betrayal—let alone aligning himself with Xander.
The odds were just too unbelievable.
Kael frowned. "Who the hell is Fiona?"
"She’s an eyewitness to Arabella’s murder," Tracie explained. "She saw everything that night. And now Xander has her location."
