Chapter 355: She’s Awake
Four months later
At Julian’s home, in the room where Anastasia had been receiving treatment for the past four months, the heart monitor suddenly started to beep louder. However, there was no one to come check it out.
Anastasia’s eyes suddenly flew open and she gasped loudly as if she’d been drowning in a pool of water—her oxygen restricted.
Her pale blue eyes fixed on the ceiling, a cloud of confusion settling over her as she struggled to make sense of her surroundings. She drew in deep, uneven breaths, her chest rising and falling as though her life depended on each inhale.
For several minutes, she lay completely still, her body refusing to respond as fragmented memories began to flood back—the factory, Avery’s chilling grin, the desperate escape. It all hit her at once, like a storm she couldn’t escape.
She glanced around the room, unsure of where she was. She raised her hand, wincing in pain when the IV needle pricked her skin deeper. Her gaze landed on the heart monitor. Then, she lifted her other hand to touch the bandage that she felt was wrapped around her face.
More confusion clouded her mind. However, when she remembered she’d killed Avery, she felt slightly satisfied.
Without thinking, Anastasia yanked off the IV needle from her wrist, her blood flowing like water but she paid no mind to it. Instead, she felt a little disturbed because that action seemed familiar—like she’d done something like that before.
She tried to get down but pain shot up from her waist to the middle of her brain, hitting a sensitive nerve that made her hiss in pain and also lose balance. She felt her body colliding with the IV stand.
