"I’m sure with what you faced downstairs, you would want to escape from here," the girl continued, which had Anastasia stiffen for a second.
"Why are you telling me this?" Anastasia questioned without looking back at Avery.
"Because I can help you get out of this place if you want," Avery sang.
Anastasia was stunned as she turned to look at Avery, eyes widened in disbelief. But there was confusion in her look as she stared back at Avery with uncertainty.
Anastasia was desperate to escape, however, she needed to know why Avery—a girl she met a few hours ago, wanted to help her all of a sudden.
"And why would you want to do that?" Anastasia questioned, cleaning her tears from earlier with the back of her hands. She glanced up at the ceiling to check if the cameras installed were directed at their corner. Luckily for them, it wasn’t.
She watched as the head of the camera turned to another side before her gaze refocused on Avery who was staring back at her with cold eyes devoid of any emotion.
There was something weird about her Anastasia couldn’t quite point out.
The girl looked broken but to what extent? Anastasia couldn’t help but wonder.
"Because I also want to escape from here, it’s that simple," Avery replied, a faint yet evident grin pulling on the corners of her lips, her gaze fixed on Anastasia without blinking at all which Anastasia wouldn’t deny creeped her out.
