"You are right! But then, we can’t be too sure about that now, can we? Given how many scandals your rotten personality had gotten you into, there’s a low chance you would win, don’t you think, Michelle? In case you need a reminder, you’ve lost half of your fanbase, hmm?"
"But I still got nominated, didn’t I?" Michelle recalled, wrapping her arms around herself and puffing out her chest with a sense of pride.
"But you haven’t won yet. Don’t you think you’re being a bit too cocky, Michelle? The night is still young, and we’ll find out who the winner is soon enough," Selene responded, a smile playing on her lips. Though it appeared harmless, Michelle couldn’t shake the feeling that Selene’s smile held a trace of mockery.
Her fist clenched by her side, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Her eyes fell on Selene’s dress and a smirk stretched on her lips.
"I can see that you still admire me as your idol. You are even wearing the same style of dress I’m wearing," she said, an eyebrow cocked in wonder.
"I never once admired you as my idol," Selene said, taking satisfaction in the way Michelle’s smirk wavered. "I only said that to get close to you. And as for the dress, it was purely a coincidence, though I don’t expect someone as self-praising as you to believe that. Anyway, I need to get going now. See you later on the stage, Michelle."
Michelle glared at Selene’s back before a wide smile spread on her lips.
She stared at the big screen that displayed the pictures of the actors and actresses that had been nominated in categories. Only a few would be getting an award tonight, and Michelle couldn’t wait to be one of them.
Michelle’s eyes landed on producer Maxine and director Pablo. They were one of the few people she’d contacted asking for a role, but just like everyone else, they preferred to have Selene play in their movie.
