Chapter 128: Theft At The Harrison Company
In Michelle’s room at the Wallace mansion, she glared at Richard who had just fallen asleep after stressing her out as usual.
Michelle took her phone, reading the text she’d received from her father that day. He’d not been given entry to the Clark building, which only means that their plan to deceive Ezekiel into marrying her was on pause. And there was a high chance her father’s plan would never work.
Michelle sighed, already tired of the whole thing. She had fantasized about being the daughter-in-law of the Wallace family—as Xavier’s wife, but that was no longer possible.
Michelle made sure Richard was deeply asleep before she went to her closet, opened it, and took out a box of cigarettes hidden so deep no one would find it.
She still smoked despite the toll it took on her health, a habit she couldn’t fully abandon even though it had once led to a severe illness during her time as a heavy drug addict.
Michelle went to the balcony of their room and peeked around to make sure no one was nearby, as almost everyone had retired for the night. Satisfied with her solitude, she pulled out a cigar stick, placed it in her mouth, and lit it with a small flame.
"Now, that’s the stuff," she mumbled under her breath when she inhaled the smoky scent of the cigarette.
Michelle decided to check the contacts on her phone. She hadn’t gotten any movie contract since the end of The Sinner which was completely unusual. Every time she finished a movie, there was another movie contract waiting in line for her.
She scrolled through her phone and stopped when she found the number of one of the producers she knew. She called him.
"Who is this?" The person from the other side questioned as soon as the call connected.
Michelle was slightly baffled by his sharp tone, she had to check the name to make sure she called the right person.
