Davian watched Lake nap at the kitchen island under the guise of watching him prepare lunch. He had tried to convince him to wait somewhere more comfortable, but Lake had been adamant.
So the Omega was sprawled across the marble countertop, wearing one of his dress shirts and comfortable pajama bottoms. He let Lake nap in the kitchen, knowing that this was the only time he could have his mate being so clingy.
When they returned to Haines in a week, Lake would be too busy to hang off his arm all day, and insist on keeping him company.
Davian hadn’t told him about the call he had gotten from Jael regarding Rosie, he knew their secretary was safe, but there were times he genuinely considered ending the vacation early for her sake. After all, she was part of the family now, and Lake no doubt missed the life they left behind.
He approached Lake, his mate’s hair had grown slightly longer in the weeks they had spent on the island, his wavy, coffee brown hair holding sunlight as it fell over his folded arms to the marble top. He pressed a kiss to his hair, gently rousing him, "Lunch is ready, love."
Lake lifted his head, soft brown eyes looking up at him, "I’m not sleeping," He immediately defended, even though Davian had said nothing about that.
Davian smiled slow, "I can see that," He noted in a teasing tone. "Let’s eat in the living room, it’s more comfortable."
Lake got to his feet and stretched, making his round tummy even more prominent. He had become really sleepy recently, Doctor Perez had checked him over thoroughly and said he was perfectly healthy, he probably just needed more rest because the baby was rapidly growing.
He made his way out of the kitchen first, knowing that Davian wouldn’t let him pick up even a single spoon to take to the living room. He sat heavily on the couch, drowsy again.
