Back at the mansion, instead of cooking like Davian would have preferred, he settled for ordering in so that he could remain by Lake’s side the entire time.
No one in their right mind would try to draw a gun on a Mafia King, and it had made Davian get too lax. There was no question that he wouldn’t let this happen again.
He was still shaken, because things could have gone so wrong. He could have... Just thinking about it made his middle lurch.
"Rosie said it was a gang member from MoonShade," Lake recalled what had just happened as they ate lunch.
Davian wasn’t pleased about the conversation topic, he planned to get the necessary information from Rosie, and then he would do some fumigating.
"He seemed to be working alone though," Lake mused as he ate.
Davian’s mood improved a bit when he saw that the Omega’s appetite wasn’t affected, "I’ll deal with it."
Lake had been about to tell Davian not to worry about it when he caught the look in the Alpha’s eyes. It reminded him of the expression he had seen on Davian’s face when he opened the door.
Lake dropped his gaze back to his lunch, fiddling with the food instead of heartily eating. Davian always treated him so well but he never really had the time to think about what the Alpha thought of him.
