The sound of a man’s pained groan made Asher glare at Jael who had a poker face on.
"You want to go by yourself?" Asher focused on him, not sounding impressed by the idea.
"Yes," He replied patiently, "My bodyguards will be with me," He tagged on when Asher looked like he was about to protest.
Asher had dropped his gun when Caspian showed up but he picked it up again momentarily when the sleazebag he had been dealing with was staring a little too hard at Caspian.
If the Omega wasn’t in the room, the man would be missing an eyeball, and a larger part of his skull.
It wasn’t just that he was worried for Caspian’s safety, he also didn’t appreciate people staring at him.
"Fine," He gritted out, reluctantly handing him a card.
"Thank you!" Caspian beamed, hopping down from the desk.
His smile was shallow, it barely touched his eyes. Asher was right in front of him but the Alpha had never felt so far away.
"Don’t forget to eat lunch!" He directed at the both of them as he started for the door.
Caspian flinched a little at the unexpected sound of a gunshot going off right after the door shut behind him.
