Chapter 115: Hero And Villain
Basla was both curious and worried after Qiro’s ominous words. He shouldn’t have been. He should have regretted his decision to listen to Qiro.
The crazy tiger dropped off a bound and gagged Seg the first thing in the morning.
Qiro didn’t want the Lowat tribe to win.
Kidnapping a member of the Seg tribe was guaranteed to turn the rest of the forest against them.
Qiro wanted strife and bloodshed. He wanted to turn the Lowat tribe into scapegoats and unify the forest against them.
That was what Basla felt. That feeling was confirmed when, later in the day, Qiro led several of the other tribes to the Lowat tribe’s doorstep.
He wasn’t giving Basla an opportunity. No, he was, just not in the way Basla had thought. He was giving him an opportunity to run.
Basla turned around and fled. He had barely processed what was going on and Qiro’s betrayal, but he was quick to realize when things weren’t going his way. As he ran through the forest while the other ribes were busy securing the captured Seg and inspecting the warehouse of weapons to be used against the Aer tribe, Basla realized something else.
He was doomed.
He had done this all under Qiro’s guidance. Well, he went along with it because he also wanted it, but Qiro had given him the push to take things to the next level and start waging a soft war against the other tribes. He had helped Basla inspire the other tribes to rally with him.
Without Qiro, it would have never gotten this far. Basla would have never dared to or managed to succeed in escalating it to this point without Qiro.
