My Eldritch Horror Wife Followed Me To Another World

Chapter 107: Old Men

After the old man who smelled like hay explained the misunderstanding from the other day when he sold Damas to the city guards, he took the Free Bird mercenaries away from the city. And once Hugo caught up with tears in his eyes, he ferried the group to Vorad’s border before returning to Mischel.

He entered the city and left the cart and horse behind. When he turned a corner, he grabbed his face and tore it off to reveal a youthful appearance. But it wasn’t just his face that changed. His entire body shifted, and he grew slightly taller, and his skin paled.

The wrinkled elderly face in his hand slowly faded away.

He ducked into another alley and followed a winding path through the city, entering and exiting houses or even climbing over them until he arrived almost back where he started.

Not far from the city gates, where repairs were in full swing, an old man with greying hair and sharp eyes looked at the workers carrying away burned trash. The brown-haired young man who still smelled of hay walked over to him with a kind expression, like he was greeting an old friend or a friend of his grandfather’s.

Old Man Rem didn’t return the expression.

"Well, Qudo?"

"They were suspicious of me all the way to the border, even after I helped patch them and the birdie up."

"You’re saying I let them go for nothing?"

"Not at all, sir. They’re mercenaries from Syttle. Took the birdie on a very lucrative commission."

"Not tribes?"
