Chapter 101: Kava
Squawks felt like a rabbit chased by a bloodthirsty wolf as Kava chased him up the stairs. In the time Squawks went from the third to the fourth floor, Kava went from halfway up the stairs from the first to the third floor, and he wasn’t far behind Squawks when Squawks reached Lily’s room.
"Sorry, Captain! The bastard put up more of a fight than I thought he would," Lily apologized while tearing her dress.
"You can apologize by paying for my funeral!" Squawks glanced inside the room. There was a weapon for Lily to take from the dead Mister Burgundy’s dead guards.
"Funeral? It’s not that bad—"
"Motherfuckers were hiding a transcendent," Squawks quickly explained.
"Ah." Lily dove for the sword right as a dagger lodged itself in the wall behind her. Kava had reached the fourth floor.
Squawks gripped his sword with both hands and faced Kava. He looked like just an ordinary servant. Short hair neatly slicked back and an outfit slightly reminiscent of a butler’s. The main thing that set him apart from the other servants was the short sword in one hand and the throwing daggers in the other.
The murderous look in his eyes was also a little different from the fear and caution of the other servants.
"We can talk this out, can’t we—" Squawks offered, only to be interrupted by a flying dagger. It was fast.
Squawks still managed to deflect it.
