My Eldritch Horror Wife Followed Me To Another World

Chapter 97: Mischel

The Free Bird Mercenaries spent the day preparing and packing their things. A day wasn’t a lot of time, but the group was experienced. Most of the time was spent gathering information, curing Dima’s hangover, and leaving the town without making it seem like the entire mercenary group was doing something illegal and violent.

They left Oklas one by one and regrouped outside the town where a friend in the import and export business was waiting for them with a horse-drawn carriage.

Captain Squawks was the last to leave, and when he did, he noticed a note attached to their door. He glanced around to see if the one who had left it was still around before looking at it.

’Beware the tainted crown.’

He sighed.

"Minal..." Those cryptic words could only have come from one source. The group of seers had given him a warning. Too bad he didn’t understand what it meant.

He crumpled up the note and ate it before jamming a nearby rock into the corner of the door so that only he or his mercenaries could open it.

The trip to Vorad was uneventful. Even crossing the border was easy.

Given the ruling peace, they could probably have crossed it the traditional way with some fake papers. But if the guards stationed along the border roads were the least bit present, they would notice the group’s composition.

All of them were experienced veterans. The only one who could hide that part of themselves was Mole. Lily could probably slip past without her muscles and combat skills being noticed because she was a woman.

But Damas was the size of two men even when slouched. Squawks’ broad shoulders and calloused hands were the physique of a swordsman. Hugo had to get his bow with him. And the only ones going around with the smell of alcohol and two swords were veterans.
