Chapter 66: Party Crashers
Nick held the silence awkwardly. It was rude to think that Monkey was an appropriate name for Monkey just because he looked like one. But it was his thoughts. He didn’t exercise control over them. His mistake was that he had let them show on his face.
He was worried about Monkey’s reaction. He wasn’t worried about his safety. He trusted the tentacle.
But according to Sosora, Monkey had been just as vital in turning the tide as Muhso had been. What if Monkey changed his mind after Nick offended him and decided to turn the tribes against him again?
Nick didn’t want that. They were getting along so well. He was really enjoying himself, the company, and the fruit juice that Mijko and Tilo had brought.
"Haha! Good lad!" But Monkey just laughed loudly and smacked Nick so hard on the back that it felt like he was about to lose his dentures. He didn’t even have dentures.
"Most people just deny it! But not you, brave man!" Monkey continued laughing and patting Nick’s back. He sounded happy and like he didn’t mind it, but then why was he hitting Nick so hard.
However, there wasn’t any malicious intent or grudges.
Nick was just weaker than Monkey had expected, and Monkey soon noticed it.
"Ahem. Anyway. I brought a gift." Monkey took out a sealed, unmarked, slightly dusty glass bottle from seemingly nowhere and handed it to Nick.
"It’s what those kids brought, but for adults. You could open it now..." Monkey glanced at the others. They were already in a festive mood, though still keeping an eye on Monkey and Nick.
"...I think I’ll save it for myself."
