(BL) Hunting The Field Guide

Chapter 405: A frilly fantasy (suggestive)

Kellen kept adjusting the edge of the apron, embarrassed. He really, really hoped that Rhys came home alone.

It wasn’t as if Rhys had ever come home with someone else before, not without letting Kellen know that beforehand, but today? Today was the day that he really hoped that didn’t happen.

With Kellen being as nervous and embarrassed that he was, he had started working away cooking in the kitchen. He was a lot awkward about the breeze, but he did his best to not pay attention to it.

Instead, he fell into the old habits of making dough, rolling out balls, and the smell of cookies filling the air. It was therapeutic, and Kellen realised as soon as he started cooking to calm himself down that it had been a while since he’d allotted himself the time to do this. He just thought that because Rhys was so busy into the evenings that he wouldn’t want a home cooked meal, or that he would have already eaten.

He’d been silly to limit himself to what he could just do for Rhys. He was allowed to bake for just himself. He could also reach out to his Dad during this time and they could cook together. It might even help him get through this time of grief for him. Kellen knew that he was feeling better as he rolled out the next set of cookies, getting them ready for when the two trays he had in the oven were done.

Kellen had his back to the door, working away rolling out cookies on the island when he heard the lock in the door turn.

"Hello? Sugar? Are you downstairs? It smells amaz-" Rhys stopped speaking as Kellen turned to look at him over his shoulder with a smile.

Rhys had frozen in the doorway, his jaw dropped, his hands slack at his side. The door was hitting against his side as he took in the image before him.

Kellen was wearing the frilly, girly maid apron that Rhys had bought. He hadn’t felt as confident wearing the black one, given what was implied. He felt he could get away with the maid apron if Rhys didn’t take it well.

Given Rhys looked like he was about to drool, Kellen didn’t think he had to worry about it. Kellen swallowed, before he turned towards the sink, washing his hands before drying them on the apron, as intended. He felt Rhys’ eyes on the skin he exposed as he raised up his apron to dry his hands, and Kellen flushed.

"Hello Rhys. Welcome back." Kellen said nervously. Rhys realised that the door was still open, and with a quick flourish, he slammed the door closed and locked it.
