(BL) Hunting The Field Guide

Chapter 287: A missing shipment, an unregistered gun, and a press conference walk into a bar...

"Okay. So, it looks like the gun had a different, only recently on the market, style of bullet in it. Which was why it was able to cause the level of bruising to Guide Woods." Lieutenant Fisher was giving them an update after Taylor had finished patching up Kellen. Kellen sat, without his clothing on since he’d handed it over to get swabbed, and instead had a large bandage wrapped around his chest, and also Rhys’ jacket around his shoulders.

Kellen was embarrassed it was a little big on him right now, since they weren’t too different in size, but he had just been guiding Taylor as she fixed him. He had to be understanding. It was one of the few times Taylor had ever asked him to do so instead of getting mad when he’d attempted to guide her while she was healing him.

Everyone had gathered a few chairs and were seated around Lieutenant Fisher. Sakura and Pamela had even arrived, and they had the two missing Captain’s on a laptop nearby.

Uncle Tom looked ill, while Captain Sergei looked pissed. Kellen could understand why. They had done this press conference to try and calm everyone down, and instead it had turned into chaos. And he wasn’t here. That alone must have stung a lot.

Uncle Tom? Now, that was probably because he was worried about what was going to happen to him. Kellen got injured twice, and so did Kellen’s Dad. There was a reason he was hiding on the front lines, and Kellen was pretty sure it wasn’t just because of his Mom anymore.

Rhys hadn’t allowed Kellen to sit down, and instead had Kellen standing, tucked between his legs, his arms wrapped around him from behind. He wasn’t touching any part of Kellen that was injured, but it was a clear display of possession.

No one cared. The only reason that Kellen and Rhys were still here was because Rhys knew better than to attempt to take Kellen back to the Guild without letting him hear what had happened. Kellen would no sooner leave this building without understanding what had happened then he would let that fucking Guide touch Rhys.

They just weren’t going to happen. Rhys had signed up for Kellen, that meant all of him. Not the airbrushed version of him, but the real him.

Which was one of the reasons Kellen wasn’t being too hard on him. Rhys had explained to him how he had a hard time managing his powers and feelings. Kellen was also used to being alone. They both had to adjust and find a common ground. They just, unfortunately, had to do it at an exceptional speed.
