(BL) Hunting The Field Guide

Chapter 173: Kidnapping isn’t a kink, right?

Hill and Brent stared at him incredulously as Kellen doubled over with his laughter.

"How the fuck are you finding this funny when you were the one who was lecturing us on how Ian was treating Casper?" Hill asked, and Kellen tried to get up to speak, but burst into laughter again. He was gasping, unable to get air into his body as he laughed.

After a moment, he was able to compose himself, and he leaned against the arm of his chair, leaning away from Hill. He wiped tears from his eyes while the two of them looked on in concern.

"I’m sorry, that wasn’t very put together Field Guide of me." He joked, and Brent snorted.

"What about that tickled your funny bone? That was a very serious situation you avoided without even being aware of it, Kellen." Brent warned, his tone serious even as his eyes danced. Kellen snorted, covering his mouth as he found the giggles again.

"I know that. What I find so funny is that he was right." Hill and Brent stared at Kellen, but they didn’t have to prod him to continue. "Rhys said he was just like the other Espers, and that I shouldn’t forgive him. He was right in the sense that he was just like any other Esper. That’s A Class Esper at best. Honestly, I was worried it was going to be worse." Hill’s eyes went wide, and Brent covered his mouth as his own snort escaped.

"Worse? What the hell do you mean, worse?" Hill demanded, and Brent nodded, waving his hand in a way to say that he also wanted to hear whatever Kellen was going to say. Kellen grinned.

"Well, I was expecting something along the lines of him planning to break my legs so that I couldn’t run away, take away my voice box so I couldn’t scream. You know, truly extreme, S Class things that I could not ever forgive him for." Hill ran her hand over her face, as Brent went white.

"You could forgive him for kidnapping you?" She asked, and Kellen laughed.

"Oh, absolutely not. If he took me away from what I loved all because of his own selfishness and contained me in a cabin where others couldn’t find me, he would be a fool to do so, and severely underestimating me. That is my field, and that is where I work. I’m not called a fucking Field Guide for no damn reason. I’d be able to make my way back to civilization. Maybe not the first time, but I would do it. Even at risk of being eaten by monsters." Brent tossed his head back and laughed at the glint in Kellen’s eyes, and Hill looked like she was at a loss for words. She ended up shaking her head, before leaning back against the chair she sat on.

"You’re both fucking insane. I almost want to see what that looks like now.. You, on the run from a crazed Captain Thatcher, and Captain Thatcher, at his wits end because the Guide he tried to kidnap wouldn’t stay where he told him to." Kellen could almost see it now.
