Chapter 134: She cooked
Zylan’s eyes widened in surprise at her words. Just moments ago, she had been crying, yet now she had completely caught him off guard. His mind reeled, trying to process the shift, the unexpected softness in her voice. It was as if, for the first time, she had allowed herself to be vulnerable with him—not out of fear, not out of desperation, but something else entirely.

His fingers brushed lightly against her back in soothing circles, and though she remained asleep, she instinctively nestled closer, as if drawn to him even in her dreams.
Zylan’s smile deepened. He didn’t know what had come over him, but for some reason, he wanted to protect this moment. He wanted to hold her like this for as long as possible.
Eventually, his eyes grew heavy, and with one last glance at her peaceful face, he let himself drift into sleep.
Naomi woke up to the harsh morning light streaming onto her face, its brightness forcing her to squint. Blinking groggily, she turned her head, expecting to find herself alone.
But she wasn’t.
Her breath hitched.
