Chapter 121: Her Words
Zylan stilled, surprised as his body refused to move where he knelt. His eyes widened in both shock and disbelief as he stared at Naomi. Her body remained frozen, mirroring his. She was as still as he was, and yet, there was something about her presence—something different—something he couldn’t grasp.
One of his eyes—the iris that had turned red—slowly faded back to its normal color, though the other remained pure red. It was a shocking sight; the change felt impossible. Had it been because of what she said?
Buthow?
He couldn’t understand it. He couldn’t begin to comprehend what had just happened.
Zylan looked at Naomi, speechless, for what felt like an eternity. Naomi, on the other hand, watched him closely, her gaze unwavering. She didn’t look afraid or even unsure. She was simply waiting, observing him, wondering what was going through his mind.
Without hesitation, she bent toward him, unconcerned by her bare form. They were both exposed, yet Naomi didn’t care. She leaned in, her hand coming to gently cup his face. Her touch was warm, a subtle comfort that sent a shiver through his body. Before he could react, she pulled him into a tender embrace, holding him close. The unexpected closeness, her warmth surrounding him, felt like a lifeline in a sea of confusion.
Then, softly, she leaned in and pressed a delicate kiss to his cheek. Zylan’s heart skipped a beat. His eyes widened even further, though part of him wished to close them, to shut out the overwhelming feelings that surged through him.
Zylan’s eyes widened in surprise as she pulled away, meeting his gaze with unwavering sincerity. Her eyes never wavered; they only deepened with the care she so freely gave him.
Then, she spoke, her voice soft yet certain.
"I love you very, very much, Zylan."
Zylan remained still, disbelief flickering in his eyes. His throat tightened as he tried to speak, but no words came out at first. After a long, painful pause, he managed to speak, his voice barely above a whisper.
