Chaos and Order - A Multiverse Fanfic

Chapter 1009: Flying Thunder Disapparation Technique!

Emotions rang high in the cold, mouldy room in the Shrieking Shack.

The words traitor, betrayal, and spy were thrown as well, getting hurled across the room like stones, hitting squarely on Lupin’s head.

Then, Hermione dropped another bomb, telling everyone that Lupin was a Werewolf.

There had been many signs — Snape increasing the volume of the potion he made for Hermione, Lupin’s disappearance around the full moon, and how the Boggart assumed a full moon’s form against him.

But Hermione had never needed these signs to know that Lupin was a werewolf.

She had known it ever since she had entered the Hogwarts Express cabin at the beginning of the term, smelling a fellow Werewolf sleeping inside right away.

Even Lupin was gobsmacked by that because he hadn’t known that Hermione herself was a Werewolf.

Because of Snape’s Potion and her Moonlight Sonata Spell, Hermione could acutely control her Werewolf transformation, even during the Full Moon when she couldn’t help but turn involuntarily.

Lupin had never enjoyed such a privilege.

When he and Sirius saw that none of the students were willing to listen to them, Lupin finally sighed and threw all the wands on the bed.

"Here," Lupin said. "Have them."

The students lunged and snatched their Wands off the bed, pointing them directly at the two men.

"Now you have Wands, and we don’t," Lupin said, staring at Darcie. "Will you listen to me now?"

The students exchanged glances.

When the silence continued, Lupin took it as a sign and said, "I have not been helping Sirius. Not at first. Even after he had revealed himself to me, I had all but made up my mind to tell Dumbledore. That was the day we met at Hogsmeade."

"Then why didn’t you?!" Harry asked, his wand shaking.

"Because..." Lupin said, looking at Black. "Something happened the next day which... made me change my mind."

"The Marauder’s Map?!" Black hissed, the girls exchanging puzzled glances.

Lupin nodded. Slowly, he reached behind him and took out the folded piece of parchment. "Sirius claimed that he was innocent," he said. "I, of course, didn’t believe him. Not until I met Black on the night of the Yule Ball. Do you remember?"

Black frowned.

"What’s a Marauder’s Map?" Darcie asked.

Black hurriedly told the girls about it, making Hermione gasp, and then nodded at Lupin. "I do remember," he said. "The Map was going nuts, showing dead people."

"The Map never lies!" Sirius suddenly shouted. "Tell them what you saw on the map! I was there with you. Tell them!"

"Black?" Harry asked.

Black had told Harry, Ron, and Draco that Lupin had confiscated the map, but he hadn’t told them about these dead people.

"I..." Black said. "I saw Barty Crouch Jr. and... Peter Pettigrew."

Silence.

Barty Crouch Jr. didn’t ring many bells in the students’ minds, other than Darcie’s, but Peter Pettigrew? The story of Sirius obliterating that poor wizard had appeared in the Daily Prophet enough times that even Muggles knew about it now.

"You are lying..." Harry said, but his voice lacked the earlier confidence... and rage.

Lupin shook his head. "We knew that we would need to prove it to you all somehow," he said. "That’s why we planned all this. We were waiting for you all to be together, because we couldn’t afford one of you running off to a teacher with half the story..."

"Keeping an eye on us?" Black asked. "You — know how to use the Marauder’s Map?"

"Of course, I know how to work it," Lupin said, with the smallest smile on his lips. "I helped write it. I’m Moony. Sirius is Padfoot. Your father was Prongs, Harry. And... yes, then there was him. Wormtail... Peter Pettigrew. As I said, I was keeping an eye on you all as per the plan. I saw all eight of you leaving Hagrid’s Hut."

"Eight?" Harry repeated.

"Then, Crookshanks helped us bring you to the Whomping Willow, where Sirius was waiting for you," Lupin continued. "On the Map, I saw Sirius, as the dog, collide with Ron. I saw him pull the two of you into the secret passage."

"Have you gone mental?!" Ron shouted from afar. "It was only me!"

Darcie looked over her shoulder, her eyes landing on Ron and...

Lupin beamed. "Yes," he said. "Two of you. Can I have a look at your rat, Ron?"

"What?!" Ron gasped, horrified. "What’s Scabbers got to do with it?"

"I see..." Darcie hummed. "Give him the rat, Ron."

Harry’s, Draco’s, Daphne’s, and Hermione’s hearts thumped, slowly realizing as well.

"Scabbers is an Animagus..." Black said, looking at the rat.

Ron’s lips twisted. "You all have gone nuts! Scabbers’s been in the family..."

"For twelve years?" Sirius said. "An oddly long time for a common rat, no? Isn’t he missing his pinky finger?"

"And?!" Ron hissed.

"All they found of Peter Pettigrew’s was his... pinky finger," Harry remembered.

"That bastard!" Sirius said, his face distorted in anger. "He betrayed James and Lily and blamed me! For twelve years... I have waited for revenge for twelve years! No more!"

Sirius lunged forward.

This time, no one stopped him.

Even as Ron struggled, Sirius snatched the rat from the boy’s hands and threw it on the floor.

Scabbers tried to run, taking advantage of the darkness.

But Darcie’s wand found him first, instantly casting the Spell to reverse an Animagus transformation.

With a blast of dust, a mousy man appeared in Scabbers’ place.

Even if they had expected it, the shock of Peter’s appearance from Scabbers was so great that all the students stepped back involuntarily.

And... some people had just been waiting for this exact moment.

Like a ghost, adding another shock value to the already shocking event, Filch appeared at the door and swung his wand.

A blue flash of light burst from him.

All the students reflexively cast the Shield Charm.

However, the blue flash of light hadn’t been meant for them.

With a loud bang, it struck the floor, and the half-ruined floor and walls shattered with a rumble.

As if that wasn’t enough, outside the Shrieking Shack, the four Contestants had positioned themselves at the four corners of the house.

The moment they heard the rumbling sound, Shae screamed, "Now!"

As the Contestants put their hands on the Shrieking Shack, mysterious glyphs began crawling out of their palms. In a matter of moments, the glyphs covered the entire structure and began glowing black and red.

Multiverse Interdependency —

The end of Shae’s golden hair lifted as her eyes glowed menacingly under the hood.

Then, pouring as much Mana as she could, she activated the unique Spell.

— Flying Thunder Disapparition Technique!

With a loud CRACK, the entire Shrieking Shack... disappeared.
