The Duke's Masked Wife 2: The Prince's Outcast Bride

Chapter 138: Fighting back (4)

"Must your kindness to me depend on whether my mother would help you? The way I heard the duchess was described, I thought you wouldn’t need to gain something to help others," Warren said, tiptoeing around the question.

Warren was met with a gun pointed at his face.

It didn’t come as a surprise that a man with many resources and a business that dealt with the making of guns was pointing one at him now.

Warren looked right at the gun. Edgar and his family underestimated how he didn’t fear death.

Warren didn’t have a title or wealth. He had an ill mother who sometimes made his life hell, and he owed money which he had yet to find a way to turn into far more money so he could pay it back.

Warren didn’t have much to live for, and his death might spark the downfall of the Collinses.

"Do it," Warren urged Edgar. "My mother would help you," he lied.

Alesandra didn’t believe Warren. Though Warren was Kate’s son, he didn’t seem to know his mother like Alessandra did.

Alessandra wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that perhaps Kate had finally admitted to her wrongdoings and she had become a changed woman, but even then, Alessandra didn’t want anything to do with Kate.

"You must go," Alessandra said, touching Edgar’s hand and slowly pushing it down for the gun to be lowered.

Alessandra didn’t want her daughters to witness Edgar shooting anyone. She hadn’t noticed it at first, but after looking at the girls for a moment, she noticed a crowd was standing near the door.
