Chapter 62: Run away with me (3)
"You’re scaring me, Edgar. I need to know where the crown prince is going, and why your guards are having a standoff with me," said Tobias.
The children were finally together, which was something to celebrate, so why was there so much tension outside?
Tobias walked with Edgar away from where the guards stood, still pointing their weapons at each other.
"I’m surprised that you will allow her to become queen. I thought nothing would convince you. Was it Alessandra?" Tobias asked, eager to hear the whole story.
"Penelope will not become your queen. Those two have run off to get married, so chasing them down will only disturb it," said Edgar.
Tobias frowned. "How could she marry him and not become queen? No!" He exclaimed, realising what had happened tonight. "Guards!"
Edgar grabbed Tobias’s arm to stop him from going down the steps. "His mind is already made up. Those knights don’t belong to me, so who do you think placed them here to hold the palace guards back? Chasing him won’t change anything."
"He’s the crown prince," Tobias reminded Edgar. His son was somewhere around the town without any guards.
"I once remembered a crown prince who wanted to leave the palace, but didn’t dare to do it. I am not pleased about this, but like you, there’s nothing much I can do unless I want to take away my daughter’s happiness. Will you?" Edgar asked, letting go of Tobias so he could decide.
