Chapter 383 - 385: Your Sister Bought You a Lot of Stuff
The next morning, He Xuegang, He Xuebing, and Yu Zhen all returned home, but the news of crying at the He Family had already spread.
For the incident of Yu Zhen crying at the He Family, Li Shengmei naturally denied it, claiming it was Dong Meihua who had cried. So Dong Meihua faced a lot of people’s concern and sympathy, which depressed her greatly, yet she still couldn’t tell the truth.
Meanwhile, Xia Xiao was busy preparing for Xia Jing and Yan Hao’s wedding. Even though getting a marriage certificate was all that was needed now, as the older sister, she at least wanted to get them a new quilt.
Although she could go to the county town from her space and then secretly buy the quilt, it wouldn’t be realistic to just bring out a new quilt without any explanation.
So when someone from the production brigade rode the ox cart into the city that day, Xia Xiao asked Zheng Xianghong to watch her children, and she and Yang Xuehua hurried to the county town to shop, with Xia Xiao being in quite a rush.
However, after she finished shopping, she ended up with engorged breasts. The pain was unbearable all the way back home, so she had Yang Xuehua take her purchases back to the dormitory first. As soon as Xia Xiao reached the production brigade, she dashed straight home.
Upon returning home, she found the baby crying loudly. Zheng Xianghong said, "Ah, finally you’re back. He wouldn’t even drink water."
Xia Xiao quickly picked up one child and rushed into the house to breastfeed. It was her first experience with engorgement, and she never anticipated it would be so painful, with her breasts feeling hard and lumpy, which really frightened her.
Zheng Xianghong, holding the other child, entered the room and said to Xia Xiao, "You’ve got engorgement, right? I meant to remind you when you left, but I forgot."
"Mom, quick, give me Feiyue," said Xia Xiao as she laid Feiyang down and took Feiyue from Zheng Xianghong’s arms to nurse on the other side, feeling some relief at last.
Feiyang, not getting any milk, naturally started crying loudly. Zheng Xianghong busily held Feiyang to soothe him until Xia Xiao had settled the younger one and came back to feed the older one.
By the end, she was soaked with sweat. Zheng Xianghong laughed and said, "Now you realize being a mother isn’t easy, right?"
Xia Xiao nodded; it was indeed very hard.
Zheng Xianghong said, "Luckily, Weilin was asleep; otherwise, taking care of several children by myself would have been exhausting."
No sooner had she spoken than loud crying came from next door.
Zheng Xianghong hurriedly said, "Weilin’s awake; I’ll go check on her."
Xia Xiao watched as Zheng Xianghong left. Now that she had finished breastfeeding and felt more comfortable, she thought she could not travel far in the future without weaning, otherwise she would be the one suffering.
She gently tapped the noses of the two children and smiled softly. Feiyang and Feiyue were growing up and looked very delicate and adorable with their chubby pink cheeks.
Now Xia Xiao could tell the twins apart; initially, she could only distinguish them by their outfits, but now she could recognize them by their eyelids. Feiyang had double eyelids on both sides, while Feiyue was single on one side and double on the other.
Xia Xiao found it strange. Both she and Gao Jiaxing had double eyelids, but Feiyue had one single eyelid. However, Zheng Xianghong had said that children change as they grow, so Xia Xiao wasn’t worried anymore. Otherwise, having one single and one double eyelid would have seemed a bit odd.
The children did not look exclusively like anyone; they were a combination of her and Gao Jiaxing’s features. It was uncertain how they would look as they grew, but for now, Xia Xiao found her two sons beautiful.
Moreover, at this moment, both Feiyang and Feiyue had their eyes open. Xia Xiao thought that children’s eyes were the most beautiful and purest, like sparkling black gems, very pleasing to look at.
Xia Xiao could spend a whole day simply watching her two sons, never tiring of it, and thinking they looked wonderful no matter how she looked at them.
"Auntie, Auntie," Weilin walked in.
"Are you hungry? Grandma went to make you something to eat, didn’t she?" Xia Xiao smiled.
"I’m hungry," Weilin replied and then climbed skillfully onto the bed to look at her two brothers.
Soon after, Zheng Xianghong came in carrying porridge and said to Weilin, "As soon as you’re out of sight, I know you’ve run over here."
Xianghong wanted to take Weilin out to feed her, but Weilin refused, wanting to stay and watch her two younger brothers.
Xianghong thus fed Weilin in Xia Xiao’s room, and soon, the twins needed a change after they peed and pooped. Xia Xiao helped clean the children and changed them into fresh diapers.
Xianghong said, "Just leave them at the door, I will wash them later."
As Xia Xiao thought about Xianghong feeding Weilin while watching the other two babies, she decided to wash the diapers herself. But just as she was about to leave, Feiyang started crying loudly.
Xia Xiao circled back, "What’s the matter now?"
Xianghong said, "He might be hungry again, it’s like this with babies. After they pee and poop, they get hungry. Plus, Feiyang and Feiyue have good appetites, they eat a lot, and your milk is not enough for both of them."
Xia Xiao had no choice but to feed Feiyang, and after him, Feiyue. Finally, the two little ones fell asleep after eating.
Weilin refused to eat her porridge, indicating that she also wanted to be breastfed. Xia Xiao was sweating.
Xianghong laughed, "That’s for your brothers, you’re grown up now and should only eat solid food and drink porridge."
Xia Xiao thought by the way Weilin was looking that she had not arranged her clothes properly. "Mom, you watch Feiyang and Feiyue while I go wash the diapers."
Xia Xiao was ready to take off. If there was only one child, her milk would surely be sufficient, but with two babies who ate well, her milk was limited.
Xianghong said, "You feed Weilin, and I’ll go wash them."
As Xianghong was about to leave after handing the bowl to Xia Xiao, Xia Xiao fed Weilin with a spoon. Weilin opened her mouth to eat, but still kept staring longingly at Xia Xiao’s chest.
After she finished feeding Weilin porridge, Xia Xiao patted her head, took her down from the bed, looked at her sons, and then took Weilin out.
"Mom, watch Feiyang and Feiyue. I’m going to take Weilin to the Youth Point," Xia Xiao said. Xia Jing and Yan Hao had applied for a dormitory, and everything Xia Xiao bought was at Yang Xuehua’s place. Now, she planned to take Weilin there.
"Okay, you go," Xianghong nodded.
Xia Xiao then took Weilin to the Youth Point. The Youth Point was no longer the same as when Xia Xiao was there, with just a few dormitories. It had expanded a lot now and many dormitories had been built.
"Oh my, you brought Weilin with you," Yang Xuehua exclaimed and took Weilin into her arms, making her giggle.
"Where’s my sister?" asked Xia Xiao.
"She’s in the new dormitory," Yang Xuehua replied, and Xia Xiao started to collect the items she had purchased for Xia Jing: quilts, straw mats, pillows, as well as buckets, washbasins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, scissors, and mirrors.
When they arrived at Xia Jing’s place, they heard the sounds of knocking on the table: bangs and clangs, ping and pong. Xia Xiao and Yang Xuehua exchanged glances, took Weilin with them, and saw Yan Hao hammering a table while Xia Jing was holding it steady.
As soon as Xia Jing saw Xia Xiao and Yang Xuehua, she immediately smiled, "Sister, Sister Xuehua, why have you come at this time?"
Yang Xuehua smiled and said, "Come and take these things, your sister has bought a lot for you."
Yan Hao and Xia Jing came out with a wow. Xia Jing said, "Sister, why did you buy so much? We already have some of these things; there was no need to buy them."
Xia Xiao smiled, "How would I know what you have? You only get married once, and as your sister, I should make sure you have a complete set."
Xia Jing was touched, "You are the best, sister."
Then she hugged Yang Xuehua as well, "Sister Xuehua, you’re the best too."
