Chapter 37: The Aftermath of the Rescue
.........
Months had passed since the rescue of Senator Riyo Chuchi from the remnants of Death Watch and the Cathar warlords who had sought to use her as leverage against the Republic. What had started as a mere mission had evolved into something far more personal.
Wilhelm Kriss and Riyo Chuchi had grown closer—their connection through the Force had deepened into a deep Dyad. While neither spoke of it openly, their bond transcended mere affection. It was an unshakable link between their minds, their emotions, their very beings. Riyo, once a political figure with no ties to the mystical energies of the Force, found herself understanding it in ways she never imagined.
Their moments together had become a retreat from duty, a fragile balance between responsibility and the pull of something greater. Yet, even in their quiet moments, Riyo knew that Will’s duty to the Jedi came first and then her and the other girls.
One night, under the pale glow of Dantooine’s twin moons, she placed a hand on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart.
"One day, when all this war ends... what happens then?" she whispered.
Will exhaled, brushing a strand of golden hair from her face. "Then we’ll have to see if Jedi are still meant to walk alone, even if I do not."
She smiled sadly. "I hope you don’t ever have to."
